Pregnancy Update - Weeks 24 - 27

Wow, time is really flying now - less than a week until I am in my third trimester! Things are continuing to go well, definitely feeling more uncomfortable the bigger I get which is to be expected obviously, a few more aches and pains than usual, but overall, things are good! The last few weeks have been busy as usual, lots of family stuff going on, lots of preparation happening for Christmas as well as trying to prepare for our Baby Bear's arrival! Something I meant to mention in my last post is that we bought a new car!  A lovely 2013 Nissan Pulsar with so much room in the boot and back, and much safer than my little corolla.  It's definitely a family car, and as someone who dislikes driving, it has taken me a bit to get used to, but it is lovely to have a newer, safer, bigger car that I know will make things much easier when our baby boy is here. I have started to get some lower back pain as my tummy continues to grow (a lot!) and am defi...

Pregnancy Update ~ Weeks 17 - 23

It has been a while since my last update, as usual, due to a very hectic couple of months! All has been well, the second trimester is definitely so much kinder than the first.  There are lots of changes and growth going on with our Baby Bear amongst all the work and family commitments.  We saw our obstetrician at the end of my 16th week and as usual, a midwife took my blood pressure before the appointment only to discover that it had become very high - higher than any of the other weeks.  She looked quite concerned and said medication could even be recommended at this point.  This obviously stressed me out even more.  We went in to our obstetrician's office and had an ultrasound and saw our beautiful little baby moving around in there.  We were hoping to find out the gender if we could, but our little baby was very comfortable with his/her legs crossed, being very shy!  We had a chat about a few other things and my bloo...

Pregnancy Update ~ Weeks 13 - 16

Wow, what a crazy rollercoaster this whole pregnancy thing is.  Time now seems to be going at warp  speed (no doubt that will slow right down around week 38 if not earlier haha) and at the minute I'm feeling fairly disorganised! The last few weeks have been incredibly busy, as always.  I meant to keep some notes so I could remember where to start, but I forgot... so this might be a bit rambling and all over the place, sorry in advance! After our 12 week scan where Baby Bear caused havoc for the radiographer, we had an appointment with our OB a few days later.  Reid wasn't able to come with me to that one, so my Mum came along.  I saw a midwife first who took my blood pressure and of course, it was high.  It looks like it's just a genetic thing that's been passed on to me and it's going to be that way when I'm pregnant.  It's not too serious yet thankfully, I just need to be careful and recognise the symptoms of ne...

We're Having a Baby!! The First Trimester.

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I have always wanted to be a Mum.  I am so excited to say that this is happening!  I am just over 12 weeks pregnant with a healthy little baby and I couldn't be happier. Reid and I have always agreed about wanting a family, it's something we've talked about for years.  I probably would have had at least two kids by now if I had my way, but we decided to wait until we had our own home and felt more ready to take on the huge responsibility of becoming parents.  In February this year, I visited my Doctor to make sure I was doing all the right things to prepare my body for growing a baby and after getting the all clear, I started on prenatal vitamins so that we could start trying a few months into the year.  We were incredibly lucky in that it didn't take us long to fall pregnant at all.  I truly feel for anyone who has struggled/is struggling to fall pregnant, it is such an incredibly emotional time ...

Busy, busy, busy.

I have had the loveliest four days off work with Reid.  I need more of this. I have been reading a few articles lately about the "glorification of being busy".  I don't find any glory in it at all to be honest.  Why would people want to constantly be busy if they had the choice? We have been so relaxed.  We went to the beautiful Stewart's Bay lodge for a couple of nights.  We enjoyed spa baths, lounging on the couch, walks outside even though it was freezing, lots of coffee and tea, lovely food and sleep-ins. I have recently discovered a blog that I have quickly become obsessed with ( www.applesundermybed.com ).  It is written by a woman who, to me, seems to have a wonderfully balanced life.  She writes posts about time with her husband and family, she discusses her nourishing rituals, (she is a Dietician) but she also treats herself with lovingly baked goods and other occasional indulgences.  Not ...

A Love Story x

Seven and a half years have gone so fast.  I was seventeen when I met you.  We had spoken before that, but as the tech-savvy teenagers we were, those early flirtations were eagerly awaited text messages that made my tummy flip. I had known of you for a long time, always stunned by photos of your beautiful blue eyes and genuine grin. We had mutual friends.  We had mutual values and morals for the most part, and we had chemistry. The first time I saw you and heard your voice I was hooked.  As cliché as that sounds, there is no other way to describe it. December 3rd 2007.  Our date.  The "official" date. You won my parents over in 2 minutes flat.  We went to the movies for our first date and I stared at your hand as you shyly placed it on my leg.  You took it away after a few minutes because you were worried it freaked me out.  Then I had to make a move!  Playfully I slapped at you for cracking your knu...
